It is also an extremely successful dot-com, having weathered the 2000 meltdown. How much better can it get? Naukri's CEO spoke to MoneyLIFE editors Sucheta Dalal and Debashis Basu about the road he took and its various turning points.

Shall we start with a little bit about your background and your upbringing? When and how did you decide to be an entrepreneur? There are no business people in my family. My father is a doctor and he was in the government from 1950 to 1983. So we were brought up in governmentcolonies. I studied at St. Columbus School in Delhi, so did my brother. There was no business background in the family, no great financial acumen or anything. My brother went to IIT, Kanpur, then IIM Ahmedabad and then did his PhD from Stanford.

It was forgone in our family that one would do engineering or become a doctor -- the standard middle class aspirations of parents in government service. So I dutifully prepared for IIT entrance, took the exams and qualified.

Then two or three things happened. My rank wasn't great. I wouldn't havegot the top three or four departments.

This is the seventth pre-final release of the GMail Backup tool - the ultimate one-click solution for doing backups of your GMail account.

Here is the changelog of this version:

• We added support for German GMail - this GMail is not called GMail, it is called Google Mail. Users of German Google Mail can now do backups of their accounts using GMail Backup.


• We tried to fix the UnicodeError reported here. Is there somebody using the non-ASCII labels who can test it and report the results?

This version is only a small bugfix release, so if you don't observe any problems you don't have to upgrade.

DOWNLOAD WIKIPEDIA DVD FOR OFFLINE READING

Everyone loves reading articles on Wikipedia as they are free and easily accessible but what if you fall in a situation where you don’t have access to the Internet and you want to access Wikipedia to reference one of your projects or assignments?

The Wikimedia Foundation has released an offline Wikipedia for Schools selection which carries articles on over 5500 topics and can be burned to a DVD for offline reading.

Notice that the ‘Wikipedia for Schools’ version is only recommended for use by students of age 8-18 as it only consists of topics relevant to their education, however in my future posts I will be sharing a tip to download a full offline-version of Wikipedia for offline reading.

Wikipedia for Schools is as big as 3GB in size and can be downloaded via BitTorrent.
